Finding the assets you need
Creative
June 1, 2022
If you’ve ever started a project and realized halfway through you don’t have the right files — you’re not alone. It happens all the time. Missing logos, outdated images, no idea where that brand font went… we’ve seen it all.
But the truth is, getting your design assets organized up front saves time, reduces frustration, and makes everything go smoother.
What Are “Assets” Anyway?
Assets are the files and materials that bring your project to life — and keep your brand consistent. This might include:
-
Logos (in high-res or vector format)
-
Fonts and brand color codes
-
Photos and product images
-
Copy or messaging
-
Style guides or previous designs
-
Even sketches or inspiration you’ve saved
Basically, anything we’ll need to design something that looks and feels like you.
Where to Look
Not sure where to start? Here are some places to check:
-
Your desktop (yep, we all stash stuff there)
-
Email attachments from past designers or printers
-
Shared drives (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)
-
Your company website (sometimes we can pull assets from there)
-
Old printed materials — we can often recreate from scans if needed
And if something’s truly missing, don’t worry. We’re pros at rebuilding what you can’t find.
Keep a Brand Folder
One of the easiest ways to avoid the scramble is to keep a single, shared folder with your core brand assets. Name it something obvious, keep it updated, and share it with anyone who needs it. It makes every new project way easier — for you and for us.
